Highlife – Butternut Wood Pen
Why a Butternut wood pen, while Black Walnut wood is so much more available and it from the same family? Simply because we like different, we enjoy creating something that sticks out from the rest.
The nuts from the Butternut tree are shaped in a more barrel form and have a sweeter taste, which we think can be seen in the wood as well. With its light medium tan and the darker grow rings the wood has this rare and distinct grain pattern that made the wood of choice for us.
Combined with the satin plated pen components this Butternut wood pen is becoming a writing instrument, the natural finish allows you to experience writing with a feel that you haven’t had before.
The fast drying ballpoint cartridge is allowing you to write with this luxury Butternut wood pen on even slick and thin paper, without bleeding through.
Natural Pen Body Finish
Our pens are coated with a nontoxic, water resistant “high friction polish” that blends fine scratches leaving a flawless semi-gloss finish.
The final product is achieved with multiple coats of Australian Shella wax that is durable and radiant.
The feel of the natural finish offers an experience that reflects that of touching the body of a guitar which is unparalleled.
As the pen has a wax coating, over time it will begin to wear down. Therefore, we suggest refinishing with a light wax coat. You may find the instructions here, along with our recommended wax.
The process of each pen is unique and takes a minimum of 2 days to complete to ensure you are offered a product of pure excellence.
Please note that as our pens are handmade from wood, the grain flow, shape as well as the coloration may vary from the sample photo.
This artisan writing instrument is using a parker style ballpoint refill.
